Our Story

At Lawns by Yorkshire, we know that well designed landscaping can be one of a property’s most alluring and valuable assets. Since 1988, we’ve taken pride in providing green and sustainable landscapes as well as snow and ice removal services throughout the tri-state area. Due to our unique and customized approach to every property we serve, our company is widely considered the region’s premier source of exterior property management.

Built from the ground up by life-long Bergen County resident Steven Jomides, LBY is a family-owned company that has grown rapidly in the size and scope of properties we serve. Our portfolio includes commercial facilities, multi-family properties, and home owners associations (HOAs), serving some of the most complex facilities in the Northeastern U.S.

With our crew of more than 100 trained, certified, and knowledgeable employees, we tackle even the most challenging landscaping and snow removal projects. Our systems-oriented approach incorporates new cutting edge technologies, such as having installed “snow cams” that allow us to keep an eye on your clearance needs during and after a storm. Our talented team of professionals works with you to protect and enhance your property and its unique needs.

Started from humble beginnings with a small loan from Steven Jomides’ dad, LBY maintains our deep roots in the communities we serve. To honor the Jomides’ family’s commitment to community service, LBY created a corporate stewardship and scholarship program that donates a portion of our earnings back to helping the very neighborhoods we serve.

LBY is proud of our reputation as one of New Jersey’s most respected and community-minded professional landscaping companies. Over the years, we’ve forged significant charitable partnerships with some of the world’s most revered and community-minded professional sports celebrities and foundations, including partnerships with the PitCCh In Foundation, New York Road Runners Team for Kids, and The Battier Take Charge Foundation. Many of these partnerships are designed to raise awareness and provide significant resources to improve the lives of inner-city at-risk youth.

Our Process: Proactive Account Management

At Lawns by Yorkshire, each of our clients is assigned a designated a professional quality-control account manager. That professional account manager’s key focus is identifying problems before they happen, all the time looking for opportunities that will enhance the user’s experience. The objective is to ensure that the grounds are maintained at the highest level,  and that specific landscaping enhancement projects are completed to our rigorous standards. Specifically, we do this by:

  • Proactively identifying issues that may be a concern in the near future
  • Looking for opportunities to enhance the grounds and save on budgetary needs
  • Working closely with property managers to increase their return on investments

Lawns by Yorkshire History

Steven Jomides, founder and owner of Lawns By Yorkshire, honors his deceased parents daily by placing family first, while working hard to grow his dad’s initial $15,000 loan into a successful multi-million dollar landscaping and snow and ice removal business. Established in 1988 as a full-service maintenance firm, LBY’s initial customer base of residential homes expanded during the mid ’90s to include rapidly developing commercial properties–hotels, industrial and shopping malls, condos and co-ops.
With LBY’s territory substantially increasing over the past several years to cover the Tri-State Region, the scope and depth of the company has expanded to mirror this growth. An extensive hiring and training program has produced highly-qualified ground crews and support staff. Capital investments in equipment, including cutting-edge machinery, vehicles, trailers, materials and uniforms positioned the company to be a premiere source of exterior property management.
